A group of 30 servers operating in the Pix Management and Operation Management sent an open letter to the president of, and to directors of the monetary authority.
One’s own. In the document, the servers state that the proposal is an “urgent and essential measure” to ensure that the Central Bank “has full conditions to sustainably provide the pix”.
“Currently, given the severe limitations and scarcity of resource, human and financial, we see ourselves in the face of increasing operational risks and without the necessary conditions to mitigate them with the necessary agility,” says the letter. “Such a scenario directly threatens the credibility and image not only of the BCB itself, and exposes its users to the risk of incidents with personal data and attempts at fraud.”
According to the group, PEC would allow to “endure Gepix with a structure compatible with the strategic relevance of PIX, ensuring human and technological resources at the time of the mission of maintaining and evolving this infrastructure that revolutionized the Brazilian payment system.”
The letter also argues that the restrictions imposed by the current legal regime, proper to the Federal Public Service, “prevent the recomposition of the staff and the adoption of work regimes compatible with the uninterrupted nature of PIX”.
“As a result, in an environment where transactions occur 24 hours a day every day of the week.”
Mayara Yano, director of ANBCB (National Association of Auditors of the Central Bank of Brazil), comes out in defense of PEC. “Without this autonomy, the Central Bank is increasingly precarious. Today we have a team of 33 people to take care of the entire operation and evolutionary agenda of Pix,” he says.
“It has measures to improve the security mechanisms that we have already discussed since 2022. Due to this limitation of resources, we will only be able to implement in 2026 because we do not have enough arm to do everything we want simultaneously.”
