Shooting between factions reaches building and leaves residents of Salvador in Pânic

A shooting on Saturday afternoon (16) left two dead, two injured and caused moments of panic among residents of Salvador. The confrontation took place around 5 pm, in a locality between the neighborhoods of Garcia and the Federation and involved members of the Bonde do Maluco (BDM) and Red Command (CV) factionswhich dispute the control of trafficking in the region.

“It looked like a war. The sound of the shots was intense,” said one neighbor, who declined to be identified. In one of the images, a window of a property was hit and the bullet ended inside the bathroom. See below:



In a statement, the Bahia Military Police confirmed the incident, but denied that shots hit a residential building in the Garcia neighborhood, as was released. According to the corporation, the topography of the region and the distance do not allow this to happen.

The PM also reported that there is a video that shows that the shooting actually reached the 14th floor of a commercial building on Avenida Vasco da Gama, at the scene of the confrontation.

Also according to the PM, four men shot in the locality known as Lajinha, in Engenho Velho of the Federation, entered a health unit during the dawn of this Sunday (17). Two of them could not resist the injuries and died.

The circumstances of the shooting, as well as the motivation and authorship of the shots, are being investigated by the Civil Police.
