United States President Donald Trump said China President Xi Jinping said he will not invade Taiwan as long as his term lasts. The speech was made in an interview with on Friday (15.ago.2025).
“I’ll tell you, you know, there’s something very similar to President Xi, from China, and Taiwan, but I don’t believe it will happen at all while I’m here. We’ll see”said the US President.
According to him, Xi stated: “I will never do this while you are president”. Trump replied: “I thank”. The Republican added that the Chinese leader also said: “I’m very patient, and China is very patient”.
The statement was given in the context of tensions between China and Taiwan. Beijing considers the island part of its territory and has reaffirmed its intention to “Reunification”. Taiwan, in turn, rejects the claims of Chinese sovereignty.
China’s embassy in Washington classified Taiwan as “The most important and sensitive question” in relations with the United States. The spokesman Liu Pengyu stated: “The US government should adhere to the principle of one China and the 3 joint communications US-China, deal with issues related to Taiwan with prudence and safeguard China-Eu relations, as well as peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.”
