The target of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, the minister of (Supreme Federal Court) maintains a network of allies in Brazilian politics that even includes supporters of former president ().
Part of these contacts comes from the previous career of Moraes, who was once secretary of administrations from São Paulo and affiliated to the PSDB. The most relevant portion, however, was built after he reached the Supreme, such as the relationship with the president (PT) and the summit of Congress.
These bonds guarantee influence on political decisions, support to enlarge allies in power spaces and protection against onslaught of opponents – as those made by pockets in.
Two of their closest relationships arose because of these attacks. Moraes has dinner almost weekly in Brasilia with Senate President David Alcolumbre (-AP), and his predecessor, the senator (PSD-MG).
The decision to guide the impeachment of an STF minister is the Senate President. The opposition again pressured for the deposition of Moraes after he determined Bolsonaro’s house arrest and obtained the public support of 41 senators to request the removal. Alcolumbre, ready, and said it will not endorse even if the other 80 senators sign the request.
The affinity with Pacheco occurred for this same institutional relationship, when the minister occupied the presidency of the (Superior Electoral Court), and the miner presided over the Senate. The senator accompanied the investigation personally, at the headquarters of, which earned him honors of Moraes. The minister also organized a dinner at his home with politicians to celebrate the four years of Pacheco management in the Senate and encouraged honors to the legal world in the legal world.
Moraes also maintain contact with former presidents of the House (without party) and (PP-AL), even if, in the second case, the relationship is permeated by tensions.
Maia has left politics and is currently president of Fin (National Confederation of Financial Institutions), but is often sought by representatives of the Legislature and the Judiciary to intermediate conversations in times of crisis between the powers.
Lira also played this role during her management in the presidency of the House. One of the moments of friction was when the minister had the now former deputy Chiquinho Brazil (without party-RJ) arrested on charges of being the mastermind of the councilwoman’s death. Lira and Moraes had a frank and hard conversation, in the words of allies, ending with the promise of working for harmony between the powers.
From Lula’s return to power, the minister also approached the petista to the TSE. In July, the president made a displeasure dinner to the minister at the Alvorada Palace.
His oldest relationship in the current government is with (), which launched Moraes in politics in 2002, by named him Secretary of Justice and Defense of Citizenship in the São Paulo government. The two usually talk, despite the discreet style of the vice president.
The STF minister has already been affiliated to the PSDB, the PFL (today part of União Brasil) and the PMDB (current MDB). From the time of the toucan, he kept as allies the federal deputies Carlos Sampaio (today NO) and Paulo Alexandre Barbosa (PSDB). Like Moraes, “Carlão” also began his career in the São Paulo prosecutor, and Barbosa was Alckmin’s secretary before being elected mayor of Santos (SP).
In 2023, when Barbosa became, the minister called toucans parliamentarians to ask his friend to vote in the election of the PSDB bench leader in the House, according to politicians who received these phone calls. The appeal did not work, and Adolfo Viana (BA) was reelected.

Rocha was Minister of the Temer Government with Moraes. When Bolsonaro lost the election, the PP president was the head of the Civil House and tried an Armistice between Moraes and Bolsonaro. Nogueira convinced the then president to look for a truce and, a week before Christmas, received him and the STF minister in his mansion for a conversation. After that, January 8 would end any type of negotiation, according to allies.
Tarcisio balances between Bolsonaro and Moraes. The governor of Sao Paulo managed to the minister by consulting him about the nomination at the head of the São Paulo prosecutor. He chose, who was the third in the triple list, but had the support of the magistrate.
