William and Kate will change home. New residence in Windsor has eight rooms

Prince and Princess of Wales are about to move to a new residence in Windsor

William and Kate will move to Forest Lodge, an eight-bedroom house in the wooded Windsor Great Park, with his sons George, Charlotte and Louis, according to British news agency PA Media.

“Wales will change home later this year,” confirmed a spokesman for Kensington Palace to CNN on Sunday.

Adelaide Cottage’s current main residence in Windsor is a few steps from the new property.

Earlier this month, authorization was granted for small internal and external changes on the property, PA reported, citing urban licensing requests submitted to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhen.

The decision of the local council refers to the removal of a window and to works in a fireplace, reported PA, adding that the park suffered restoration works of 1.5 million pounds (about 1.7 million euros) in 2001.

Photographs taken inside the house at the time show the original property masonry, elaborate plaster cornifies and ceiling decoration, according to PA.

This is not the first time the family has moved to a new home.

In August 2022, it was announced that the couple – then titled Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – would change their family out of London during the school period in an attempt to provide children with a “normal” family life, according to a royal source to CNN.

The last change follows a turbulent period for the family, after Kate revealed her diagnosis of cancer and had started chemotherapy last March.

While doing the treatment, he moved away from public life and only made some appearances last summer. In September, he announced that he had completed chemotherapy and was “doing what he could to remain free of cancer.”
