The chief of staff of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the first lady of the US, Melania Trump, for asking Russia president to save Ukrainian children deported.
“The return of Ukrainian children kidnapped by Russia should be an essential condition for any peace agreement,” wrote Andriy Yermak in a social media post on Saturday.
Yermak said he was “grateful” to, in which she asked the leader “restore personally” what he called the children’s “melodic laughter.”
According to the Ukraine Conflict Observatory, an initiative led by Yale University’s Humanitarian Research Laboratory, more than 35,000 Ukrainian children were kidnapped during the war and taken to over 100 locations in Russia and Russian -occupied territories.

Dear President Putin,
Every child shares the same silent dreams in his heart, randomly born in the rustic field of a nation or in the center of a magnificent city. They dream of love, possibilities and security against danger.
As parents, it is our duty to feed the hope of the next generation. As leaders, the responsibility of protecting our children goes beyond the comfort of the few. In today’s world, however, some children are forced to carry a silent laugh, untouched by the darkness around them – a silent resistance against the forces that may steal their future. Mr. Putin, the Lord may, alone, restore this melodious laugh.
By protecting the innocence of these children, the Lord will do more than serving only Russia – will be serving humanity itself. Such a bold idea transcends all human divisions, and you, Mr. Putin, is in a position to implement this vision with a simple pen gesture today. It’s time.
