On Monday, China called on all parties involved in peace interviews to accelerate an agreement to end the Russian war in Ukraine. The statement came just before the planned negotiations in Washington, informs TASR referring to AFP report.

“We hope that all parties and stakeholders will be involved in the negotiations in time and will reach the fair, permanent, binding and for all parties of acceptable peace agreement as soon as possible,” A spokeswoman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry Mao Ning said at a press conference.

US President Donald Trump hosts on Monday in Washington Ukrainian President Volodymyr Greenland and consequently several European leaders. Before the meeting, the head of the White House excluded the return of Crimea to Ukraine and the country’s accession to NATO. Greeding has repeatedly rejected territorial concessions in favor of Russia and asks for security guarantees for Kiev before the negotiations.

The meeting follows the Trump Summit with the Russian President Vladimir Putin last Friday at Alaska, who, according to AFP, did not bring a breakthrough on the ceasefire. However, both leaders promised to provide Ukraine with “fixed security guarantees”.

While Putin excluded Ukraine’s accession to NATO, American envoy Steve Witkoff said the Russian President agreed that the Allies of Ukraine would provide the country with security guarantees similar to NATO. These should be part of a possible agreement to terminate the war, recalls Sky News.

“China supports all efforts leading to a peaceful resolution of the crisis and is pleased that Russia and the United States maintain contacts, improve relationships and support the political process of solving the Ukrainian crisis,” Mao Ning said. Beijing claims that it is in a conflict in Ukraine by a neutral party, but the West criticizes it for not condemning Russia for its invasion. Since the beginning of the war, Moscow and Beijing have intensified the strategic partnership.
