Traveling can be an expensive process and not always easy to organize. Finding affordable flights requires time and patience to compare companies, dates and destinations. To simplify this task, a new tool has been created that uses artificial intelligence.
The idea is to allow the user to just describe what they are looking for. Instead of traveling complex menus, research is done in natural language, as if they were talking to a travel agent.
What is Flight Deals
The new tool is called Flight Deals and has been incorporated into the Google Flights portal. Through it, just write a request as a “one week trip to a city with good gastronomy” or “10 days in a ski resort” to receive suggestions.
The tool analyzes the description provided and crosses it with real-time information from hundreds of airlines and reserve websites. Thus, it has options adjusted to the indicated profile.
How research works
The system uses artificial intelligence to interpret the nuances of what the traveler describes. Instead of limiting a specific destination, it can propose alternatives that fit what was requested.
Thus, the user may even discover places that he had not considered, but correspond to the characteristics mentioned in the research.
Practical examples of use
During the presentation, tests were done such as looking for flights to coincide with a specific event or ask for a week vacation at a certain time of year. The tool presented relevant results in a few seconds.
In another example, when requested a destination with beach and hot climate, the system suggested several options from different continents.
Advantages for the User
The main advantage is not having to manually fill fields such as dates or destinations. The description in natural language replaces the traditional form. This approach saves time and allows more flexible research, adapted to the style of each traveler.
Current limitations
Despite the potential, Flight Deals is not yet available in Portugal. For now, the testing phase takes place only in the United States, Canada and India.
Google has said it is collecting feedback to improve the tool before launching it globally.
