León | Evicted the inhabitants of three villages of Palencia for the Canalejas fire
The Palencia localities of Villalba de Guardardo, Fresno del Río and Mantinos (516 inhabitants, between the three) have been evacuated by prevention due to the forest fire of Canalejas, active since Saturday afternoon in the border province of León. Hours before, the fire has also forced to confine the town of Guardo (Palencia), with more than 5,500 inhabitants.
The Integrated Operational Coordination Center (Cecopi) of Castilla y León has agreed to the eviction of these three villages and the evacuation of 564 people preventively in the face of the progress of fire. Of these, 130 people have been housed in the Saldaña Sports Center and four in residences of the elderly in the town, while the rest have gone to family homes or have returned to their homes, since many were in Villalba and in Fresno coinciding with the patron saint festivities, the territorial delegate of the Board and president of the Cecopi, José Antonio Rubio Mielgo, has confirmed to Efe.
Rubio Honey has explained that the most worrying focus is precisely the Canalejas fire for extreme virulence and winds of up to 40 kilometers per hour in the west direction throughout the afternoon that have complicated the tasks of extinction. (EFE)
