Finance Minister says this week’s mission is to regulate the contingency plan to minimize the impact of tariff on the Brazilian economy

The Minister of Finance, said that the government intends to protect Brazil from “External aggression”referring to the 50% tariff imposed by the United States.

“We will follow the trajectory defined by the President [ (PT)]which is to protect the Brazilian economy. This week’s mission is to regulate the contingency plan to make the resources released at the end”, He told journalists, after attending an event held by the CNBC and by Financial Timesin São Paulo.

Haddad also spoke of the former president of the family’s family (PL). “[A família Bolsonaro] is acting so that negotiations do not establish themselves ”he declared.

During the event, Haddad stated that the Mercosur – European Union agreement should be signed by the beginning of 2026.

According to him, the overcoming of the last obstacle should be later this year. “Overcoming the last obstacle to the agreement should happen by the end of this year, has everything to leave by the end of this year ”, The minister said, noting that President Lula maintains a frequent dialogue with French President Emmanuel Macron (Renaissance), considered the main obstacle to negotiations.
