The Louisiana State Government in the United States filed a lawsuit against Roblox Corporation, accusing the online gaming platform of facilitating and allowing the systematic sexual exploitation of children.
The action, presented by Attorney General Liz Murrill on Thursday (14), was released by the American newspaper The Washington Post.
According to the complaint, Roblox became “the perfect place for pedophiles” for not adopting basic safety controls, such as age verification and confirmation of parental authorization. “All parents should be aware of the clear and present danger that Roblox represents to their children,” Murrill said in a press conference.

The process cites concrete cases, such as a man who used voice alteration technology to imitate children, to attract minors. The platform is accused of neglect and conscious omission over the years, despite the community’s numerous alerts.

With about 111.8 million active users a day, Roblox is one of the most popular platforms among children and adolescents. About 36% of users are under 13 years old.
Although many games are appropriate, the process cites the existence of openly sexual experiences within the platform, such as: “Escape to Epstein Island”, a reference to the sexual scandal involving the American billionaire; and, “Diddy Party,” which alludes to the case of rapper artist P. Diddy.

The prosecution maintains that by not actually restricting or moderating this type of content, Roblox creates an extreme risk environment, especially for minors.
Insufficient measures
Despite recent efforts from the company, the prosecutor considers late and insufficient measures.
The lawsuit calls for a permanent restriction order that prevents the company from declaring that it offers proper security. In addition, it seeks to prevent Roblox from violating state laws of unfair business practices.

In recent months, the company has faced a climb of processes in different states such as California, Texas, Michigan and Georgia.
In one case, a 10 -year -old girl would have been kidnapped by a 27 -year -old man she met on the platform. Another case involved a criminal who coerced more than 100 girls, between 5 and 17 years old, to send sex material after contact with Roblox.
