Former 2007 United States and Nobel Prize President Al Gore criticized the decision of Donald Trump (Republican Party) to impose on Brazilian products. In an interview with host Luciano Huck, published in the newspaper this Thursday (19.ago.2025), Gore stated that the measure is “Completely irrational” e “It offends even the American people”.
“It’s very unfortunate, because the people of Brazil and the US people have always had a very strong friendship. This decision is completely irrational. Trump says proven false things and offends even the American people.”he declared.
According to the Democrat, Trump resorts to lies as a political tool. “He says coal is clean, that windmills cause cancer and that Ukraine began the war against Russia. This is a complete distortion of reality ”, declared.

The Democrat also praised the president (PT) and the Brazilian driving of COP30. “I have great respect for President Lula, and Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago was a fantastic choice for the presidency of COP30”these.
For Gore, the conference scheduled for November in Belém (PA) represents “a historical chance ” to complete the cycle started at ECO-92 in Rio de Janeiro. The former vice president pointed out that, despite the logistical difficulties, bet on Brazilian protagonism and popular support for a robust climate agreement.
Gore recalled his performance since Eco-92 and cited advances, such as the growth of renewable energy and electric vehicles. But he warned that the time to act is running out: “It is possible to overcome this challenge, as we have done in the past, but we need to accelerate”.
In the interview, Gore said the climate crisis is “First of all, a fossil fuel crisis” and stated that the energy transition depends on capital to developing countries. “We need to break free from this toxic and suicide dependence on fossil fuels”he declared.
