The President of the European Council António Costa said on Tuesday that the process of admission of Ukraine to the European Union must move forward and Europe must participate in the following peace negotiations together with Ukraine, Russia and the United States. Costa, who, through a video call from Lisbon, informed EU leaders at the Monday Summit in Washington, then told reporters that the possibility of a bilateral meeting of Ukrainian President Volodymyr and Russian leader Vladimir Putin is “huge progress”.
“Now we all have to turn this opportunity into reality so that the meeting is actually happening and successful,” he said, calling for the earliest possible implementation of the wider negotiations with the participation of Europe.
