Pooneta went to win a WTA 1000 tournament after 15 months, on Monday (18), winning Cincinnati Open, with a difficult victory over the Italian, 2 sets to 0, with partials of 7/5 and 6/4, after 1h50 game. With the result, Swiatek takes second place in the world ranking, surpassing the American Coco Gauff. First place follows with Belarusa Aryna Sabalenka. It was the 11th Polish WTA title and the 24th in the career.
The first set showed oscillations in the performance of tennis players. Paolini started better and took advantage of Swiatek’s instability to get a breakage and open 3/0. But the Polish reacted and gave no chance for the opponent in the five games in a row. He returned the break and began to lead the scoring. Paolini made the fourth point and fought a lot in the tenth game to get new equality in 5/5. But Swiatek showed more intensity to maintain, break the withdrawal and close the first partial in 57 minutes: 7/5. There were six brokenders in the first set.
