(Reuters)-French President Emmanuel Macron, in peaceful conversations with US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, and other European Union leaders on Monday, proposed a future quadripartite meeting about Ukraine that would include Europe.
He said the idea of a trilateral meeting – involving the United States, Russia, and Ukraine – is “very important, because that is the only way to solve the problem,” but suggested that Europe should also be involved without specifying who should speak through Europe.
“As a follow -up, we would need the quadrilateral meeting, because when we talk about security guarantees, we talked about all the security of the European continent,” Macron said, according to a transcription of the press meeting. “That’s why we’re all united here with Ukraine.”
