The eldest son of Methe-Marit Princess Marius Borg Hoibi is accused of 32 violations, among them four and is facing a 10-year prison sentence, Norwegian Attorney General said today.
In addition to the four rape, Marius Borg Hoibi is also accused of companion, violence, attack on freedom and how he filmed and captured videos without consensus, Attorney General Stourla Henicksbo explained during a press conference.
“The maximum penalty for the reported infringements included in the indictment is a sentence of up to 10 years,” he added.
“These are very serious acts that may leave permanent injuries and destroy lives,” the prosecutor said.
Marios Borg Hoibby, acquired by Mete Merit during a relationship that had preceded her marriage to Prince Haakon’s successor, was arrested on August 4, 2024, as he was suspected of attacking his partner.
These events led to a series of revelations and complaints from other victims.
“The fact that Marius Borg Hoibi is a member of the royal family should certainly not result in a more favorable or stricter treatment than whether such acts had been committed by others,” Henicksbo said.
The four rape accused by Borg Hoibi were committed in 2018, 2023 and 2024, the latter after the start of the police investigation.
