Coach Jorge Sampaoli said he was sought by the board of Santos to take over the team, but made a requirement to close with the Baixada team.
– It is a pride that the club seeks me and a big challenge. I am willing to take over, but I asked the board to make an effort with reinforcements to consolidate a good project -he said in an interview with journalist César Luis Merlo.

This is the second time that coach Jorge Sampaoli has been sought by the board of Santos this year. The coach was sought in April, after the resignation of Pedro Caixinha, before the arrival of Cléber Xavier.
Now, with the resignation of Cléber Xavier, once again the Argentine coach was sought by the Fish board.

Despite Cléber Xavier’s departure, the other members of the coaching staff, Matheus Bachi, César Sampaio and Fábio Mahseredjian, will continue in the club, which led to the possibility that Tite arrives at the team, as they were part of Tite’s commission in their latest works, such as the national team and Flamengo.
