Polish Iga Swiatk won the first title in Cincinnati’s WTA 1000 on Monday night by defeating the eighth of the world ranking, Italian Jasmine Paolini 2-0 (7-5 and 6-4)-sent a powerful message before US Open.

The six -time Grand Slam winner has not missed a set on the way to the title and was accurate in the final, converting all six break points to win the 11th WTA 1000 title and the first since last year’s Italy’s open.

The Polish is now the second biggest winner of all time of the WTA 1000 format, behind only the American with 23.

“I want to thank my team. Thanks for making me a better player and learn to play on these faster surfaces. I’m shocked and superphilized,” he said.

Paolini started better, opening 3-0 and taking Swiatek on the edge of another break. However, the Polish reacted with a sequence of five games and, after wasting the first chance on the opening set, closed the game in the second attempt.

Swiatk kept the momentum on the second set, saving two break points at 4-3, before staying firm and approaching the title. Guaranteed the victory at the first opportunity with a strong withdrawal, expanding the perfect record against Italian to 6-0.

The victory assured that it will be number two in the world, ensuring that it will be head of key number 2 in the last Grand Slam of the season, with simple matches start on Sunday (24).

Iga Swiatek should also join the Norwegian Casper Ruud in the new do do.
