Exactly a month after the death of 33 -year -old biologist Jessica Souza dos Santos, the victim of a line with Cerol in Cruzeiro do Sul, the case is unanswered by public responsibility for the accountability of those involved.

The tragedy took place on July 19, when Jessica was driving a motorcycle through the slope of the Dom Henrique school, in the João Alves neighborhood. She was hit around her neck by a sharp line and died before the arrival of the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu). The episode generated commotion throughout the state and rekindled the debate about the need for more rigorous supervision against the use of cerol.
After the incident, the Acre Public Prosecution Service (MPAC) established a criminal news and requested the opening of a police inquiry, with a period of 30 days. The agency determined the conduct of technical expertise on site, collecting images of security cameras, line analysis, as well as necroscopic examination and witness hearing. It was also defined that partial reports should be sent every 15 days to the Cruzeiro do Sul Criminal Justice.
However, after 30 days, no official update was released by the Civil Police or MPAC. Family and friends are waiting for information, while the population charges concrete measures so that similar cases do not happen again.
