Parliamentary elections will soon be awaiting the Czech Republic. If you think our neighbors have the same electoral system as we are, you are wrong. In this article, we will explain how the elections will take place this year, who is standing and which candidates are among the possible favorites.
The deadline is set for Friday October 3 and Saturday 4th October 2025as President Petr Pavel said on May 13, 2025.
The current government is a cabinet led by Peter Fial (ODS)which was created after the elections in 2021. The government consists of a coalition together (ODS, Top 09, KDU-ČSL) and Pirates + Stan. A current coalition: Pirates were part of the government together, but in September 2024 they stepped out of it.
According to current sources, the Czech parliamentary elections applied for 28 subjects. It is a combination of political parties, movements and coalitions. However, check out the list of eleven subjects that are most commonly mentioned:

Two -member coalitions will have to get eight percent of the votes, at least eleven. The limit for independent candidates remains at five percent. This threshold also applies to the type grouping It was enough! or SPDthat are not coalitions.
Who are the leaders of the parties in these elections?
Andrej Babiš (yes) He is a former Czech Prime Minister (in 2017-2021). He is also the founder of the YES movement, billionaire, owner of Agrofert, or unsuccessful presidential candidate in the last election. He is currently in preferences for a long time.
Petr Fiala (together-ODS, TOP 09, KDU-ČSL) He is a professor of political science, chairman of the ODS and current prime minister of the Czech Republic since 2021. He has been profiled as a moderate conservative and a pro -European politician.
Zdeněk Hřib (Pirates) He is the former Mayor of Prague (in the term of office 2018-2023), the doctor and chairman of the pirate party has been since 2024.

Tomio Okamura (SPD) He is chairman of the Freedom and Democracy movement, he is well known for Eurosceptic and anti -immigration attitudes.
Kateřina Konečná (enough!) Today he holds the post of MEP for KSČM, she is the leader of the new left -wing coalition enough! (KSČM, SOCDEM, SD-SN, ČSNS). It focuses on social issues, criticizes NATO and the current government.
Vojtěch Ryvola (Gen) He is chairman of the new Gen political formation, which is profiled as pro -European and reform, focused on innovation and modernization of the economy. Since 2022 he has been a municipal council for transport in Prague 1. It is the owner of the brewery boat a brewery.
Petr Macinka (Motorists to yourself) He is a co -founder and spokesman for the Motorist Sobery Initiative, known for resistance to traffic restrictions and low -emission zones. From 2008 to 2013 he worked in the office of the President of the Republic Václav Klaus in a press field. Since 2017 he has been the manager of the Institute of Václav Klaus.

In all pre -election surveys since the last elections, Babis has clearly leads the YES movement. Its preferences are around 30 percent. The coalition is moving behind him, just below 20 percent.
