Black personalities of different segments gather this Saturday (23) in Rio de Janeiro, at the Black Women Festival for repair and good living. Free and open to the public, the program starts at 10am at the Calouste Gulbenkian Arts Center, in the central region of the city.

The event will be attended by names such as Luyara Franco, Executive Director of the Institute, Lúcia Xavier, Social Worker and Human Rights activist, and Jaqueline Gomes de Jesus, the first manager of the University of Black Quota System, besides the artist Ana Paula Cruz.

The meeting will discuss the legacy of the 2015 Black Women March, considered a landmark of the anti -racist and feminist struggle in Brazil. Ten years ago, the mobilization brought together over 100,000 women in Brasilia in protest against, patriarchy, sexism and ways that they reach the lives of black, quilombola, peripheral, lesbian, bisexual and transgender women.

The festival follows a series of programming around Brazil to bring women together for a new mobilization, to be held on November 25 in Brasilia.

This time, the mobilization articulated by several organizations aims to gather 1 million people in the capital of the country and proposes a new society project based on “good living” – concept of indigenous origin that proposes a worldview centered on harmony between human beings and nature, respect for cultural diversity and the search for a full and worthy life for all.

Registration for this Saturday should be made via. The event is promoted by the organizations State Forum of Black Women RJ, Instituto Buzios, Marielle Franco Institute, Black Women Movement Decade, NGO Crola and Grupo Connection G, which operates for the community.
