GENIAL/QUEST: 67% of Brazilians advocate Trump’s tariff negotiation

A new survey by Genial/Quaris reveals the opinion of Brazilians about how the country should react to “tariff”. Most respondents, 67%, believe that the best way is negotiation with the United States. Another 26% advocate the imposition of tariffs on US products in response, while 7% did not know or did not respond. The survey, released on Wednesday (20), also evaluated the perception of the performance of political figures on the issue. All the names consulted, including President Lula, Finance Minister, the governor of São Paulo,and former President Jair Bolsonaro received a majority assessment. Lula and Haddad were the ones who had the best performances, although still failed.

Regarding the government, 48% of respondents believe that Lula’s management will get an agreement to reduce tariffs, against 45% they think otherwise. The perception of the intentions of the president is also divided: 49% believe that he is acting in defense of Brazil, while 41% evaluate that the petista is taking advantage of the situation for self -promotion. The survey listened to 12,150 people in eight Brazilian states, with margin of error between 2 and 3 percentage points and confidence level of 95%.
