Vithomir Maricic from Croatia could be described as the man-paste.

On June 14, the free diver broke the breath away in a pool for 29 minutes and 3 seconds, beating his predecessor by 5 minutes. This is about twice as long as the one believed to keep his breath a rhinodelphin,

The average person can hold his breath between 30 and 90 seconds.

With such a performance, Maricic could even control a seal. With each breath a seal can replace 90% of the air in its lungs, but only 20%. To cover the difference, we need more breathing to fill the lungs with fresh air.

How did he do

In order to introduce as much oxygen as possible in his body, Maricic in a pure oxygen for 10 minutes before the attempt. This increased the oxygen that had been dissolved in the plasma of his blood, which is a critical stock for body tissues.

In a video on Instagram, Maricic explained that he started the effort, which broke the record, with almost five times more oxygen on his body than usual. Without it he could never stand so much. Even with normal air, however, the capabilities of the Croatian athlete are impressive: it can keep breathing for up to 10 minutes and 8 seconds.

The Guinness record for breathing without help is 11 minutes and 35 seconds and was recorded by Branko Petrovic of Serbia in 2014.
