The price of the basic basket in Rio Branco registered fall in August. The average value became R $ 676.44, which represents a reduction of almost R $ 40 compared to the previous month, when it was R $ 715.10, according to a survey released by the Federation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism of Acre (Fecomércio-AC).

The research also shows that prices have been oscillating since April. That month, the basket reached the highest value of the year, pressured mainly by the discharge of tomato. Already in June, it cost R $ 650.63, the equivalent of almost half of the current minimum wage, which lit a warning to the impact on the lowest income families.
Between July and August, some products contributed to the general reduction of cost. The English potato, for example, plummeted from R $ 43.56 to R $ 25.44, a fall of 33%. The cookie (-15.05%) and tomato (-12.72%) were also significant.
In contrast, beef is still high. The price of the kilo rose from R $ 241.95 in July to R $ 250.95 in August, a variation of 5.46%. Margarina also faced, with a readjustment of 3.76%.
The calculation of Fecomércio-AC takes into account the average prices of 15 food items sold in supermarkets of the capital. The basket is estimated to meet the monthly consumption of up to three adults, or two adults and two children.
