Start of works is scheduled for January 2026 and duration must be 40 months; CEO of SAF da Lusa explains that stadium will also be able to host major events, such as shows and performances
The Portuguese presented on Tuesday night (19) the project of the new Canindé, in an event that brought together managers from SAF and partners of the traditional club Paulista. The proposal foresees a stadium with capacity for 46,500 fans and up to 84,500 viewers for shows. The expectation is to start the works in January 2026, lasting up to 40 months (3 years and 4 months).
The new stadium will have 4,685 seats in cabins and will be designed thinking also about major events outside the sport, such as shows and various performances, also using the lawn. The project was developed by Architecture’s architect Jayme Mestieri, and presented to Revee’s CFO, Leonardo Falbo Donato, who detailed the financial part of the work.
“We are delivering a modern stadium project, capable of hosting not only Portuguese games, but also big events. It is a gain for the club and for the entire city of São Paulo,” said Alex Bourgeois, CEO of SAF. In addition to him, the meeting was attended by the president of the Board of Directors of SAF, André Berenguer, Vice-Presidents Fred Mourão (Marketing), Marcus Mingoni (Finance), Tadeu Oliveira Júnior (Football) and Turíbio Leite (Health and Performance), Management and Planning Director, Marcos Cardoso, and Legal Manager, Daniel Lucas.
The project goes beyond the construction of a modern arena: it also includes the revitalization of the social club, the creation of a Garage building for 4,600 vehicles, a hotel and a gastronomic Boulevard. The idea is to transform the space into a multifunctional complex, capable of also housing corporate events, repositioning Lusa in the sports and cultural scenario of.
In a meeting held on Tuesday night (19), at the Noble Hall of the Social Club of Lusa, the Portuguese SAF and Revee presented to the Association’s advisers the project of the new Canindé.
