The mayor’s management denied a request made by Companhia Mungunzá and upheld the decision that until Thursday (21).
The notification for vacancy within 15 days was signed on August 6, by the subprefect of the Sé, Colonel Marcelo Vieira Salles. The company, however, requested a 120 -day deadline to leave the space.
The land belongs to the municipality and, since 2016, has been occupied by the company.
The mayor intends to resume the space for a housing project. “The intended extension (120 days) would compromise the schedule of high social relevance,” Salles wrote by rejecting the group’s request.
The city also reiterated, in the letter, that there are two areas available to the company, located in the Streets Helvétia and Counselor Furtado. In the property of Helvétia street, the subprefect also said that it is possible to expand the area from 900 square meters to 1,200 square meters.
According to the city, the group could also make their presentations at the Olido Gallery and the São Paulo Cultural Center during the change process.
The subprefect also ruled out the possibility of the group occupying the interior of Parque da Luz, as suggested.
“This is a common use of the people, linked to environmental and leisure purpose, legally incompatible with the installation of permanent theatrical equipment,” replied Salles.
Two other areas suggested by the group, located on Doctor Albuquerque Lins and Mauá streets, belong to the state government, which has already reported that they will not be able to assign them.
