Professional bodybuilder URS Kalecinski announced on the morning of Wednesday (20) that will migrate from Classic Physique-a category that establishes a weight limit regarding the competitor’s height-to Open-a division where there is no weight limit. Through his official social networking account, the German athlete claims that the need to lose almost 15 kg of muscle mass requires a “tremendous” sacrifice from him.
“My struggle to beat Classic Physique’s weight becomes increasingly difficult, to the point that I have to sacrifice tremendously my health or even my best physique potentially. Those who accompanied me during last year’s preparation for Olympia know that I suffered from depression and anxiety while trying to evolve, thinking that, somehow, it would always be possible to lose all the weight won when I was time to prepare for competition. I underestimated the consequences of such a large weight loss. My body was subjected to continuous stress and my mental health was constantly affected by this situation, “says Ramon Dino’s hitherto rival.
“I am now 17 kg more than my weight limit for the category requires, but my body is almost ready for the stage – which means I would have to lose about 15 kg of pure muscle mass to reach my limit. Honestly, that seems wrong,” he adds.
Current third place in Olympia, Kalecinski also points out that, at the moment, it is not at the same level as the best Open athletes on the planet. However, the 27-year-old bodybuilder states that this fact will not prevent him from “falling in love with this sport” and “fighting for a new and more mature version” of his physique. Still according to him, his body seems to want to “release all the brakes”.
Professional since 2019, German debuted at Olympia in 2021 at the age of 23 when he was fourth. Since then, he has won the top3 three times in a row.
