Striker Jonathan Calleri still recovers from left knee surgery. Reference in the tricolor attack, the player advances in the recovery of a serious injury in the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee, suffered in April, against Botafogo.
The surgical procedure, held on April 23, was followed by months of internal work. The case had an update on August 11, when the Argentine ran back on the lawn, signaling progress in the rehabilitation process.
Calleri has a contract with Sao Paulo until December 2026. The player has 18 matches for Sao Paulo this season and scored three goals. Calleri has been in São Paulo since he arrived on loan in 2021 and established himself as a leadership in the group.
When was Calleri’s last game?
He has not been playing since April 16, 2025, when he suffered a serious injury in the draw of Sao Paulo 2-2 with Botafogo, for the Brazilian Championship. At the time, the Argentine had a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (LCA) of the left knee.
After examinations, it was confirmed that he would need to undergo surgery, a procedure performed on April 23, at Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo (SP). The operation has been successful, and since then the player has been recovering at Refis Plus, located in Barra Funda CT.

Calleri return forecast to games
Since surgery, the Club has adopted a cautious stance in relation to the return deadlines. Medical estimates indicate a recovery period between six and nine months, which puts Calleri’s return to the lawns between October this year and January 2026depending on the response to treatment.
Injuries such as it require extra care, as an early return can compromise knee stability and generate new problems. Therefore, the coaching staff and the medical department avoid accelerating the process.
