Amid the compliance with precautionary measures, former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) tried to circumvent the restrictions imposed by the Federal Supreme Court (STF) by sharing contents of the 3 August demonstration and videos related to the sanctions of the magnitsky law against Minister Alexandre de Moraes. The messages were sent in series by WhatsApp, according to the Federal Police (PF).

The most recently seized device shows a large amount of files forwarded by Bolsonaro on the day of the pro-Bolsonaro act in Sao Paulo, distributed in WhatsApp groups. The goal, according to the PF, was to use third party social networks in an attempt to breach the order of the Supreme Court.
“Given the large amount of files, the investigation pointed out the main shared content on 08/3/2025 by the investigated Jair Bolsonaro, with the objective of using third party social networks, to circumvent the prohibition order the relay of content imposed by justice,” details PF report.
The messages obtained by the PF on Bolsonaro’s phone are in the corporation’s final report, with the indictment of former President Jair Bolsonaro and son Eduardo Bolsonaro, licensed federal deputy, for coercion crimes in the course of the process and attempted abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law by restricting the exercise of constitutional powers.
The PF concluded investigations that calculated coercion actions in the course of Criminal Action No. 2668, in the Supreme Court (STF). The process investigates an alleged coup attempt in Brazil between 2022 and 2023. The action involves eight defendants, including former President Jair Bolsonaro, and charges of criminal organization, attempted abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law and coup.
In total, the shares exceeded 300 shipments made directly by the former president. Among the content was news about “consequences that can rock the economy” with sanctions to Moraes, calls to mobilize supporters in Brazil, videos of President Donald Trump defending “our freedom” and demonstrations by Brazilian authorities asking Bolsonaro for freedom.
For the PF, Modus Operandi used by Bolsonaro in this offensive to try to circumvent court decisions is equivalent to the identified in the digital militias survey. In one of these situations, investigators cite a message from Federal Deputy Captain Alden (PL-BA) asking the former president to send an audio to protesters who participated in an act in Salvador (BA).
Bolsonaro replied by saying that he was afraid to send recordings, but there would be no problem if it was a call. The former president also talked to his son, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), in an act in Rio de Janeiro-an episode that subsequently motivated his house arrest.
“Alden, if I say anything, gives problem. You can call me in the image saying, ‘I’m here with the image of Bolsonaro, you’re sending you all and congratulating you.’ Then you can. You say. I can’t talk, no,” Bolsonaro said in audio.
Despite the initial resistance, Bolsonaro eventually gave in and talked to Alden in a 1 minute and 14 second call. A few minutes later, the former president sent a video apparently recorded by third, containing part of this connection with the deputy. The material is 55 seconds and, in the background, it is possible to hear that the demonstration was underway.
At the end of the recording, the calling says “hug, president”, and Bolsonaro replies: “Hug, my Bahia”. Then a voice of the act states “We are listening to you, president,” to which Bolsonaro replies, “No, I can’t speak, no … a Bahia hug, a good day to all of you.”
Supposed Bolsonaro obstruction
In addition, the PF identified that Jair Bolsonaro omitted information in a statement provided in Inquiry No. 4,995 not to mention transfers to his son 03, licensed federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), and former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro. The inquiry in question is allegedly obstruction of the parliamentarian in relation to the investigation of criminal organization and attempted violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law.
The former president had only declared the transfer of $ 2 million to his son. However, the investigation showed that the moved values were higher and involved different financial operations.
According to the report, Bolsonaro did not say that, in addition to the transfer of R $ 2 million to Eduardo, he had made other transfers to his son. He also justified why he transferred, on June 4, 2025, R $ 2 million to his wife, Michelle, just a day before being interrogated by the PF.
The corporation points out that the two operations, of identical values and on nearby dates, demonstrate a strategy of moving resources for family members to reduce risks of judicial blockade.
