The gynecology and obstetrics departments of the University Hospital L. Pasteur (UNLP) in Košice were born on Sunday (17 August). A little girl and two boys were born by 21-year-old mother Victoria from Malý Slavkov in the district of Kežmarok. As UNLP spokeswoman Ladislav Šustová informed, it is already the second birth of triplets in a short time.
The triplets were conceived spontaneously and the obstetrician Ján Varga watched the pregnancy since the 7th week. “The pregnancy took place without serious complications and all babies developed well. From the 30th week the patient was hospitalized until the birth of our department,“He said. He added that he was his first triplets, which he watched from the beginning to childbirth.
Multiple pregnancy is considered risky, so the future mother had to regularly attend gynecological controls to Košice. The birth took place without Caesarean complications. “Originally we planned a section for 35th week, but for impaired flows with the smallest baby we had to end the pregnancy at the 34th week. In the case of multi -fertile pregnancy, the weakest article is always decided, ”the doctor explained.

All three children were born in good health and without complications. “Immediately after giving birth, all threes cried and did not need any great acute intervention. Two of them only needed short medical attention, they breathe independently and their lungs have developed. Now they are the most important eating for them – they are gradually getting breast milk,” said Iveta Kostelníková, head of the neonatology department.
