The Public Prosecution Service of the State of São Paulo (MPSP) defeated on Wednesday (20) the mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes, questioned the origin of the Order for the Metropolitan Civil Guard (CGM) of the Mungunzá container theater, on Tuesday (19).

GCM agents were forcibly removed and using pepper gas artists from a building attached to the theater in downtown São Paulo, where equipment and belongings used by the container theater were stored. According to the MP, there were also aggressions and threats against artists with lethal weapons.

The same questions were also referred to the Sé Subprefect, Marcelo Salles, and the Superintendent Inspector of the São Paulo Metropolitan Civil Guard General, Jairo Chabariberry Filho. The prosecutor gave ten days to the answers.

The MP’s questions are part of a civil inquiry already established by the agency to investigate “possible acting act of administrative misconduct” practiced by Ricardo Nunes and municipal secretaries due to extrajudicial notification issued by the City Hall for the eviction of the municipal area in disuse, in the neighborhood of Santa Ifigenia, in the center of the state capital, where the container theater operates, “with the violation of constitutional principles and abuse of power and power abuse public agents, in the exercise of their duties ”.

The theater is installed on site, belonging to the City Hall, since 2016. The group’s election with the municipal administration is that the land is destined to the Municipal Secretariat of Culture and that the portfolio regularizes the space.

However, the city intends to give another purpose to the site, which is close to the region of Cracolândia. According to the municipal administration, the area occupied by the group is within “a broad project to revitalize the city, including the construction of housing and leisure area”.

Vacation deadline

The City Hall was questioned by Brazil agency This Wednesday (20), but did not respond if there is a court order or administrative order and coercive removal of the theater. The municipal administration reported that the deadline for the vacancy of the property ends on Thursday (21).

“The Metropolitan Civil Guard performed on Tuesday (19) the operation on Protestant Street to vacate a property located next to the theater. The building, which is banned and will be demolished by the São Paulo City Hall, was invaded by a group of people who used clandestine access made from the terrain of the theater.
