One day after () being indicted again by the Federal Police, the Minister of Health, (PT), made joke with the use of electronic anklets when participating in the event with the president (PT) on Thursday (21).
Bolsonaro started using the equipment about a month ago, while Lula had a pair of socks he got as a gift.
“There are people who have anklet, there are people who have beautiful half,” said Padilha in front of journalists and TV cameras, pulling some laughs from the event’s guests.
The president and the minister were in Sorocaba, in the interior of São Paulo, for a delivery ceremony of 400 mobile dental units – vans equipped for care with dentists. The president descended from one of these vehicles and posed for photos when the minister, next to him, made the joke.
The pair of socks – with yellow, red, blue and black diamonds, and white details – was a gift from the presidential photographer, Ricardo Stuckert. On social networks, critics of President Bolsonaro have posted photos showing the ankle without electronic equipment in a joking reference to the former president.
In official speeches, shortly thereafter, the president and the minister made no mention of Bolsonaro.
In an interview shortly after the ceremony, Padilha failed to answer a question about Lula’s guidance to the government regarding Bolsonaro’s problems in court. In a friendly tone, the minister replied that he had left political coordination in March this year.
“I can say that today President Bolsonaro, where he is, SUS will always be serving him,” Padilha told reporters during the interview.
Unlike Bolsonaro, Lula did not wear an electronic anklet when he responded to the accusations of Operation Lava Jato.
In 2019, after the operation’s task force recommended to the court that he progressed from the closed regime to the semi-open, the petista released a letter that said he did not accept the use of the electronic anklet as a condition for the benefit.
“I don’t change my dignity for my freedom,” he said at the time.
And Bolsonaro, the anklet was installed by order of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Supreme Court (STF), after the PGR (Attorney General of the Republic) claim that they would be urgent to avoid a possible attempted Bolsonaro escape.
