LAWYERS OF THE FORMER PERFORMING THAT CRIME OCCURRED IN ITALIAN TERRITORY AND THERE SHOULD NOT BE COMPLETED HERE; Session was transferred to September 3
It postponed the trial of an appeal presented by the defense of the former player, convicted of nine years in prison for sexual violence against an Albanian young woman in 2017. The analysis of the case was scheduled for the afternoon of Tuesday (20), in a session scheduled for 14h, but was transferred to next September 3. Robinho’s lawyers contest the execution of the penalty in Brazil, claiming that the crime occurred in Italian territory and, therefore, should not be fulfilled here.
After the STJ’s decision in March 2024, which authorized the execution of the sentence in the country, the defense even appealed to the Federal Supreme Court (STF), but was denied the request. Robinho was convicted by the Italian court for participation in a crime of sexual violence committed with five other men against a woman of Albanian origin. Based on an international treaty between Brazil and Italy, the former player fulfills the sentence on Brazilian soil, as his defense tries to reverse.
