7.5 magnitude earthquake hits southern Argentina

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10.8 kilometers. Drake’s passage connects the South and Pacific South Atlantic Oceans between the southern end of South America and the Antarctic Peninsula.

Although it is less prone to seismic shaking than other regions of the Chilean coast, Drake’s passage is located in a highly active geological zone. The area is remote and there were no reports of damage or victims.
