The Brazilian Women’s Volleyball Team made its debut on Friday (22) in the World Championship with a 3-set victory against Greece, in a game played in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Second in the ranking of FIVB (International Volleyball Federation) selections, the team led by José Roberto Guimarães confirmed the favoritism against the Greek team, 31st in the world and back to competition after 23 years, with partial 25/16, 25/16 and 25/16.
Brazil is in Group C, and faces in the next rounds to France, on Sunday (24), and Puerto Rico, on Tuesday (26).
The two best teams in each group advance to the knockout phase, which will be held in Bangkok, starting on the 31st.
Advancing to the round of 16, Brazil takes a group selection that has China, Colombia, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.
The final takes place on September 7th.
Brazil seeks in the Asian country the first title in the World Cup. The selection is the current runner-up of the competition, having lost the 2022 decision to Serbia.
The team also got silver three times in 1994, defeated by Cuba in the final, and in 2006 and 2010, when he lost to Russia. The national team also took the bronze in 2014 against Italy.
Russia is the biggest champion in the tournament, with seven titles. Japan and Cuba next, with three each.
