Chaotic scenes took place during a return match between Independiente and Universidad de Chile

Initially, the arbitration paralyzed the game. Shortly thereafter, Conmebol determined the cancellation of the match, which means that the dispute will not resume. And the decision on the result will be the disciplinary authorities of the Confederation. “Conmebol’s board of competitions and operations announced that, due to the lack of security guarantees of local club and local security authorities to ensure the continuity of the match between Independiente (ARG) and Universidad de Chile (Chi) by the round of 16 of the South American Conmebol of 2025, the match was canceled,” Conmebol said.
