Several agents were seen entering the building
The FBI conducted a court authorized by the court of John Bolton’s house under a national security investigation, according to a person familiar with the matter.
CNN observed FBI staff near the house of the former US National Security Counselor in the Washington area, DC. The FBI was seen talking to a person at the house’s porch, and at least four to six agents were seen entering.
Contacted by CNN, Bolton said he was unaware of the FBI activity and was investigating the matter.
The search was initially reported by. In a social media publication, FBI director Kash Patel wrote that the agents were “on mission,” but it was unclear if it referred to the search.
“No one is above the law … @fbi agents on mission,” Patel wrote.
The president of the United States has repeatedly persecuted his former national security counselor during his term, including more recently, saying this month that the media were “constantly quoting goodbye losers and really stupid people like John Bolton.”
The president also laid off Bolton from secret services a few hours after starting his second term in January.
During his first term, Trump threatened to arrest Bolton after the publication of a 2020 book in which he claimed that the US president was unfortunately misinformed on foreign policy issues and obsessed with shaping his legacy in the media. The book also reported that Trump asked Ukraine and China leaders to help him overcome the 2020 elections.
The Justice Department also investigated Bolton about the possibility of “illegally disclosing confidential information” in his memories, although former President Joe Biden’s authorities ended the investigation and given a process related to the book’s publication in 2021.
Trump and his government have conducted a retaliation campaign in recent months against a wide range of political enemies from the president, from former Trump employees to members of Congress and prosecutors who filed lawsuits against Trump while he was out of office.
Last week, Patel disqualified and released notes of internal interviews from the FBI of a former employee of the Chamber of Representatives Secretary Committee who first accused former deputy Adam Schiff in 2017 of driving illegal escapes of confidential information about Trump and Russia, in a climb of Trump’s longtime rivalry with Schiff.
The Justice Department also opened an investigation from the Great Jury against New York Attorney General, Letitia James this month, about the civil actions that the magistrate moved against Trump and the National Rifle Association.
