Minister Flávio Dino of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) said on Friday (22) that people should not expect the court to “contact disputes”, but cannot consider that the court “kills Brazilian sovereignty”.

Dino made the statement when asked about his decision that determined that administrative or judicial legislation and decisions from other countries and are only valid if they are approved by the court.

The measure was interpreted as a reaction to the United States decision to sanction Minister Alexandre de Moraes with A, which imposes economic restrictions such as the blockade of bank and goods on American soil.

“Do not expect the Supreme that you can disputes. The minister said that international cooperation is “welcome” but cannot be imposed, and said that Brazil cannot accept threats to its citizens and companies:

“International cooperation is always welcome, as long as dialogue and not imposition. Some think this decision and others come to increase conflicts. It is otherwise to harmonize contentious situations and, above all, avoid conflicts in the future. A country that values ​​its constitution cannot accept strength measures that threaten their citizens, their citizens and that threaten their companies.”
