The national coordinator of the Brazil Livre Movement (MBL), Renan Santos, said on Friday, 22, that the group will release its own presidential candidate in the next elections. The movement tries to finalize the process of creation of the Mission, MBL political party that has already gathered the 457 thousand signatures necessary to make it possible.
“We will have a candidate for President of the Republic. He is going to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) (the TSE) (the) Creation of Our Party, which should be ready within 60 days. With the Mission Party, we will be in the upcoming elections with a candidate,” MBL national coordinator said in an interview with Portal Metropolis.
For Santos, the MBL has already passed the phase in which it faced “dilemmas” to choose the politician he would support. “Now our task is to choose a candidate,” he said.

On Thursday, 21, MBL broke with the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans). At the Tribune of the São Paulo Legislative Assembly (Alesp), state deputy Guto Zacarias (União Brasil) announced his departure from the government’s vice-leadership and accused Tarcisio of supporting projects that expand privileges of civil service.
Tarcisio is quoted to run for the presidency in 2026. The Governor of Sao Paulo may receive the support of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), as the former president is ineligible until 2030. Bolsonaro, however, has not yet signaled who will support and maintains that he will compete for the Plateau.
Santos said the MBL will support Tarcisio in the race for Planalto next year and criticized governor. “We never hung up in Tarcisio. He is a public man, I recognize his qualities, but he always hung up in Bolsonaro. We had a haughty alliance. Guto (Zacarias) passed the bills and, in return, he led the discussion of Sabesp’s privatization,” he said.
