Genius/Quaest research released on Friday, 22, shows that the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite (PSD), should have difficulty choosing a successor in the 2026 elections. Leite, which will end his eight years ahead of Piratini Palace, has been placed as a possible candidate for the presidency of the Republic or Senate.
If in February this year 47% of respondents said milk deserved an ally as a successor, today this percentage fell to 41%. On the other hand, those who say milk do not deserve to get the successor rose from 46% to 54%.
The current deputy governor, Gabriel Souza (MDB), has only 5% of voting intentions. It is behind the state deputy Juliana Brizola (PDT), who has 21%, by federal deputy Zucco (PL), with 20%, and the current president of the National Supply Company (Conab), Edegar Pretto (PT), with 11%.

Eduardo Leite’s approval of management continues to overcome disapproval, despite a drop in recent months. In February this year, 62% approved the governor; Today, there are 58%. On the other hand, 33% disapproved; Now there are 38%.
Milk management has similar evaluations in the eight areas cited by researchers (infra and mobility, public transportation, employment and income, housing, education, health, social policies and safety). In all of them, management has positive evaluations ranging from 28% (in health) to 35% (in employment and income and education). The negatives range from 22% (in employment and income) to 32% (in health).
Eduardo Leite exchanged the PSDB for the PSD in May this year after 24 years affiliated to the Tucano Party. Although his name is quoted for the dispute for the Planalto Palace, there is another pre-candidate in the party, the governor of Paraná, Ratinho Júnior. Its name is also cited for the Senate dispute.
