The contours of the future security architecture of Ukraine are increasing every day, President Volodymyr Zelenskyj said on Thursday. Reuters, referring to the US Army, reported that military commanders from the United States and several European countries have completed the proposals for the possible seizure of Ukraine’s security after the war and now submit them to assess the national security advisor, TASR writes.
The security guarantees for Ukraine, which considers them to be one of its priorities before he proceeds to conclude an agreement to terminate the war with Russia, began more intensively in recent days – followed by US President Donald Trump’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska and then with a green and European leaders in White House.
Guarantees and negotiations
Greeding in a regular evening speech on the telegram said that National Security Advisers were negotiating on Wednesday and further communication took place on Thursday. According to Reuters, the Chiefs of the General Staff of Finland, France, Germany, Britain, Italy, Ukraine and the USA participated in the relevant discussions.
“Every day now, the contours of the future security architecture of Ukraine – weapons, financing, cooperation with our partners, forces on the ground, in the air, at the sea are increasing,” said Greeding.
Trump said he would not send US soldiers to Ukraine, but he could offer air support. His Vice President of JD Vance said on Wednesday that most of the costs related to Ukrainian security guarantees will have to be taken by European states and that Trump expects Europe to play a leading role in this matter.
On Thursday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who described the absolutely unacceptable presence of Western states in Ukraine, also participated in the discussion on Thursday. Kiev also accused that he is not interested in a permanent peace agreement and that he is trying to obtain security guarantees incompatible with Russia’s requirements.
A meeting in uncertainty
According to Reuters, US and European representatives will take some time to determine what is militarily feasible and acceptable to the Kremlin in terms of Ukraine guarantee.
After Monday’s negotiations in the White House Monday, Trump announced that he started preparing a bilateral meeting between Ukrainian and Russian president. However, on Thursday, Zelenskyj, according to AFP, accused Russia of trying to avoid such a meeting. But before that he himself stressed that Putin will only meet after the agreement between Ukraine and its Western allies at security guarantees.
