President boarded this Thursday (21.ago) towards Bogota, where he participates in Amazonian summit in preparation for COP30
President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) embarked on Thursday (21.2025) to Bogota, Colombia, where he participates in the V Summit of Presidents of the States Parties of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty (OTCA).
At the end of this trip, Lula will have spent 119 days outside Brazil since the beginning of his term. Since 2023, he has made 35 trips to 36 different countries.
Only in 2025, the petista made 11 international trips, spent 31 days out and visited 12 different countries.

Summit in Colombia
They accompany Lula on the trip to Bogotá the first lady, Janja da Silva, and the ministers Marina Silva (environment), Mauro Vieira (Foreign Relations), Sônia Guajajara (indigenous peoples) and Márcio Macêdo (General Secretariat of the Presidency).
The presidential meeting is on Friday (22.ago.2025) at Nariño’s house, headquarters of Colombian President Gustavo Petro, and will also feature Ecuador Vice President, Verónica Abad, as well as Chancellers and representatives of the 8 Amazonian countries: Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela.
The meeting aims to consolidate commitments to the Amazon agenda, define strategic actions for COP30 and strengthen regional cooperation.
The program includes a meeting with civil society, indigenous peoples, traditional communities and strategic sectors.
Lula must also sign the Bogota Declaration, the main document of the summit – with an emphasis on climate change, will take stock of the actions since.
According to Secretary Patrick Luna (MRE), Brazil will also submit an autonomous statement to obtain support for TFFF (Forest Frames Forever), a $ 125 billion initiative to remunerate countries that retain forests.
