This Friday (22), were announced directly from the White House in Washington, United States, the date and official place of the draw of the 2026 World Cup groups. The revelation was made by President Donald Trump, alongside FIFA’s agent Gianni Infantino.
The event will take place at Kennedy Center in the US capital on December 5, starting at 13h (Brasília time).
This will be the first World Cup with 48 teams, and the draw will define the formation of the 12 groups, each with four teams.

World with new format and disputed in 3 countries
The 2026 edition will be historic for three host countries: United States, Mexico and Canada. The competition will be held between June 11 and July 19, and will bring a new format that expands the number of participants from 32 to 48 selections.
With the expansion of the tournament, more vacancies were opened for each continent, and several teams have already ensured presence, including Brazil, which ensured early classification, missing two rounds for the end of the South American qualifiers.
In addition to the host and canary trio, other confirmed teams are Argentina, Ecuador, Japan Iran, Uzbekistan, South Korea, Jordan, Australia and New Zealand. By the end of 2025 all vacancies are expected to be filled.
World Cup headquarters 2026
In total, the United States will feature 11 stadiums in the competition, with the country with the most headquarters. Among these, five have been recently used at the Club World Cup.
On the other hand, Mexico will feature three arenas, including the traditional Azteca stadium, and Canada will feature two headquarters.
