Change happens after changing American customs rules, under which the minimi exemption for assets valued at up to $ 800 will be removed from next week
The Department of Post Office of the Ministry of Communications announced that it will no longer receive most of the postal remittances to those from 25 August, in an official statement released on Saturday (23). The change comes after changing US customs rules, under which the minimi exemption for assets valued at up to $ 800 will be removed from next week.
“All international postal items for the US, regardless of their value, will be subject to customs rights according to the specific tariff framework of the Country of International Emergency Economic Powers (IEEPA),” explains note.
According to the text of the Indian administration, however, items up to $ 100 will remain exempt from taxes, the same amount that will still be received by the post office.
“The department is closely monitoring the evolving situation in coordination with all stakeholders, and all efforts are being made to normalize services as soon as possible,” he adds.
