It condemned him, on Friday (22), the deputy to five years and three months in prison for illegal gun and illegal embarrassment crimes using firearms. The decision was made in a virtual plenary, with a score of 9 votes to 2 in favor of the conviction. The case refers to an episode that occurred in October 2022, on the eve of the second round of the elections, when Zambelli argued with a supporter of the then candidate (PT) on a street of Sao Paulo and chased him with a gun in hand.

A Attorney General’s Office (PGR) had already spoken in favor of the conviction. Ministers Luís Roberto Barroso, Luiz Fux and André Mendonça voted for the conviction on Friday, consolidating the majority.
This is the second conviction of the deputy in the STF this year. In May, unanimously, the parliamentarian was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the invasion of systems and for the tampering of documents of the National Council of Justice (CNJ). According to commentator Cristiano Vilela, “she can still appeal this decision, but it is very difficult, because any appeal is for the Federal Supreme Court itself, and the court’s position is already clear about it,” he said.
