It presented a bill in the São Paulo City Council to try to curb the wave of theft of alliances, rings and gold necklaces in the city.
According to the proposal, the Municipal Register of Gold and Jewelry Trade, mandatory for all establishments and individuals who sell these items.
The registration would need to contain information such as proof of origin of the jewelry, with invoice or certified property declaration, in addition to the history of transactions of the merchant.
In addition, the City Hall and the Civil Police would create a municipal database of jewelry and gold, allowing victims to register stolen goods and traders to consult the origin of the products before purchase.
Already jewelry and pledge houses would need to maintain detailed records of all transactions for at least five years, and provide data and inform the authorities about any suspicious sale.
