The Russian President expressed the belief that Donald Trump’s leadership skills would contribute to the restoration of bilateral relations between countries.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that “light at the end of the tunnel” appeared in the relationships between Russia and the United States. According to Reuters, he said this during a visit to the Nuclear Research Center, where he answered the questions of journalists.
Putin expressed the belief that US President Donald Trump’s leadership skills would contribute to the recovery of bilateral relations that have been freezing in recent years.
“With the arrival of President Trump, I think, finally appeared light at the end of the tunnel. Last week we had a very good, factual and open meeting in Alaska,” said the Russian President with reference to the recent summit.
“The next steps now depend on the leadership of the United States, but I believe that the leadership of current President Donald Trump is a good guarantee that relationships will be renewed,” Putin added.
