Lanyue is a newly developed spacecraft to bring future Chinese manner to the moon
China successfully finished its controlled landing and takeoff tests on the land of its manned lunar module, Lanyue. The information is from state media. The simulations represent a significant advance in the country’s manned lunar exploration program.
According to CMSA (China’s manned space agency), this is the first time the Chinese perform an extraterrestrial landing and takeoff test of a manned space ship.
The simulations were carried out in a special installation in Huailai County in Hebei province in northern China. From there, Lanyue was thrown out of the earth.
According to the space agency, the tests validated the integrated performance of the main systems of the landing module, including the descent and climb scheme, engine control and shutdown systems after lunar landing.
Huang Zhen, which is part of China’s Aerospace Science and Aerospace Corporation, responsible for the development and launch of aircraft, explained how tests work in an interview with CCTV.
“For example, during the launch phase, we need to check its payload. Therefore, we perform large -scale mechanical tests to ensure a smooth transition in the extremely complex environment during the launch. The module will also orbiting the moon for a long time, so we perform several thermal tests to ensure that it can support the thermal environment of the cisnunar space.”disse Huang Zhen.
The Luna Lanyue lunar module is a newly developed spacecraft to carry future manned lunar exploration missions from China. It consists of two structures: a lunar module and a propulsion module, and is able to carry 2 astronauts, 1 lunar rover (moon exploration vehicle) and several useful scientific charges between lunar orbit and lunar surface. A manned lunar landing is planned to be performed before 2030.
According to CGTNLanyue will also serve as a habitable activity center for astronauts, acting as a center of energy, data transmitter and accommodation, allowing prolonged lunar stays and surface operations.
