Public Prosecution Service accuses members of FARC dissent by attack in Cali; Another criminal action left 13 police officers killed in Antioch
Two were arrested after the attack with a bomb truck that killed six civilians and left more than 60 injured in southwest. The prosecutor announced on Saturday (23) that they were accused of murder and other crimes. The bombing took place last Thursday (21) in Cali, the same day when another armed group killed 13 police officers to overthrow a drone helicopter and rifles in Antioch in the northwest of the country.
Authorities attribute attacks on dissent from those who rejected the peace agreement signed in 2016 and vie for territory with each other. According to the MP, Walter Yonda and Carlos Obando Aguirre, from the Jaime Martínez Front, linked to the Central Staff (EMC), were indicted for qualified homicide-a crime that can result in up to 50 years in prison.
Defense Minister Pedro Sánchez said that there is no ceasefire in force with criminal groups and that offensive operations continue ongoing. He was in Antioch this Saturday to coordinate, with the Armed Forces, actions against dissidents, paramilitary and cartels involved with drug trafficking, extortion and illegal mining. According to Sánchez, the Colombian government employs all the resources available to “neutralize threats” to national security.
