Supreme Federal Court (STF) Minister Alexandre de Moraes called for the extradition of his former advisor Eduardo Tagliaferro, reported on Friday (22) by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) for acting against the legitimacy of the electoral process and acting to undermine the investigations of undemocratic acts. The information is from the column of journalist Lauro Jardim, in the newspaper The globe.
The request was sent to the Ministry of Justice, which referred on Wednesday (20) to Itamaraty for formalization with the government of Italy, where Tagliaferro moved. From there, it prepares a complaint to submit to the European Parliament against Moraes.
“I inform you of your excellence that the extradition request of Mr. Eduardo de Oliveira Tagliaferro was sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on August 20, 2025, for formalization with the Government of Italy,” says a letter from the ministry obtained by the newspaper, addressed to Alexandre Moraes.

Tagliaferro was advisor to Moraes during the period when the minister presided over the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). The former advisor is being charged with crimes of violation of functional confidentiality, coercion in the course of the process, obstruction of criminal offense investigation involving criminal organization and attempted violent abolition of the democratic rule of law.

The former advisor, who has the support of Bolsonarists, claims to be the victim of political persecution and chooses a group that has attacked alleged arbitrariness of Moraes.
For Paulo Gonet, Tagliaferro has been acting in conjunction with other investigators who fled with the objective of “enhancing offensive reactions against the legitimate work of the Brazilian authorities responsible for the investigations and criminal actions that follow regularly”. According to the PGR, its alignment with the criminal organization was clear with its departure from the country.
